Martial Arts for Kids
msb12 | November 22nd, 2009

There are so many benefits to be gain through Martial Arts for kids.

The benefits are actually pretty amazing when you begin to take a closer look and then compare them to other activities available for kids.

Let’s start with Increasing Confidence and Self Esteem. Kids soon realise that they can make a difference and through repetition of simple techniques brings about great confidence.

The Strength and Fitness of our children improves such a great deal simply through participation. The simple techniques are taught inbetween fun active games so the kids are increasing their level of fitness without even realising that this is exercise.

Increasing Safety Awareness is one of the ever important areas of Self Defense. A little knowledge can go a long way when we are talking about such subjects as “Stranger Danger”,

Kids take pride in learning about Personal Virtues such as Discipline, Self Discipline, Respect, Excellence and Integrity, especially when the information is conveyed in such a simple way, they can relate it to not only the Martial Arts Studio but Home, School and Outside in general.

Indoor Rock Climbing in Calgary
msb12 | October 9th, 2008

My daughter recently started indoor Rock Climbing in Calgary. What a great activity for kids, in fact it is a great activity for anyone; male or female. The facility she now trains at, offers a great Junior program at both competitive and recreational levels, from age 8 and up. There are in fact, many programs available for climbers at all levels and ages.

I have a big interest in activities that promote conditioning and I certainly would include indoor Rock Climbing in this category. I initially thought that it would be very limited but progress has continued and enthusiasm is still sky high.

Everyone has a natural ability for climbing, it is an activity that people really enjoy and become good at very quickly. I was amazed at how quickly my Daughter has progressed and even more impressed with the incredible condition and strength she is developing throughout her body.

An instant advantage of indoor rock climbing is that only a minimal amount of equipment is required and you don’t even need to rush out and buy anything as that can be borrowed at the facility. As far as “what to wear” goes, simply wear whatever you consider to be comfortable clothing.

It looks quite a challenge and offers many benefits such increased fitness and health which should be an incentive for everyone. Some of the other major benefits are:

  • Increased Strength
  • Increased Core Strength
  • Improved Focus
  • Coordination
  • Confidence
  • Increased Flexibility
  • Problem Solving

Women seem to be very well suited to this sport as they develop an incredible weight - strength ratio, a factor that becomes more important, the more you advance with indoor Rock Climbing.

The men who train regularly are without doubt in great shape, it is hard to ignore the great strength that some of these people show on the walls.

When you next look at your options for activities to do, consider indoor rock climbing in Calgary, whether it is for yourself or for your children, we started out a much smaller facility which was Okay and we looked at the other available facilities in town.

As far as I was concerned, we found our best option for Indoor Rock Climbing in Calgary .
The Crux which is located at: Bay 9, 1415 28th Street NE, Calgary
Visit their Site : www.thecruxclimbing.com or call 403-235-CRUX (2789)

Other Activities that come high on my list of recommendations for Kids Activities in Calgary or whatever City you happen to be in are:

Martial Arts for Kids

There has always been some big questions overhanging Martial arts for Kids.

What should we teach them? what age should they begin? what techniques should we avoid? which techniques we should teach? how much is too much? the list goes on and on.

Martial arts for Kids can be great. We can teach them some very important life skills through fun teaching and at the same time encourage discipline and respect for others. Safety awareness is also an element that should be added for the younger children. Many parents think that they have this covered and when put to the test we have shown them that unless some of the areas are positively reinforced regularly, they tend to be easily forgotten.

Safety awareness is an area that the parents can certainly help with but access to some sound information is important. This is to ensure that the right information is being passed on to children.

Martial arts for kids has to go far beyond teaching a few techniques, let’s not forget these children are our future so doing all we can to help them grow up safely as better people is always going to be a good thing. To have this sort of influence in children’s lives is an honour and a pleasure.

It is so satisfying to know that we can make such a positive impact in then lives of our children as they grow and develop.

It does not matter on the style being taught to them so much as the attitude and energy applied into teaching, but Martial arts for Kids can certainly be a huge benefit.

With the right approach, Martial arts for Kids will become a lifelong passion for all involved.
