Boxing Focus Pads
msb12 | August 18th, 2008

Boxing Focus Pads are great for improving the timing of your punches.

Boxing Focus Pads

Practice combinations, improve your timing and co-ordination.

Boxing Focus pads are very inexpensive, small and easy to carry around in your Gym bag. It helps to have an experienced trainer using them with you initially, practice using them and like everything else you will improve with time.

It does take some getting used to holding the Boxing Focus Pads as you are using different muscles than you are probably used to. Build up time gradually, practice different combinations of punching. Repetition of these combinations help them to feel more natural.

The practicing is not just for the person doing the punching but also the holder. It is quite an art to hold the pads and be familiar with a whole range of punching combinations.

You will get a good workout by punching on the Boxing Focus Pads. Build up to rounds of punching, the length of the rounds should be appropriate to your sport.

Boxing Focus Pads can also be used in other sports where punching or other hand strikes are used, Karate, Kung Fu and Martial arts in General.

100 Push Ups
msb12 | August 15th, 2008

100 Push Ups is a good little challenge for anyone. The single exercise is great for working many parts of the body. The Chest, Triceps and core are the main muscles called upon. There are also many variations for the exercise to make them even more of a challenge.

If 100 Push Ups is too many for you to do in one go then break it down into sets of whatever is comfortable for you. 10 sets of 10, 5 sets of 20, 2 x 40’s and a 20 etc.

As a little bit of inspiration for you, take a look at this video. Once again the main star of the show is “Pretty Boy Bam Bam” Watch and see for yourself, personally I think he is incredible and if you have not watched the video on Boxing Training Tips, see him in action on my post covering that too.

100 Push Ups (I forgot to mention - by a 5 year old kid too)

Keep on Going! Give 100 Push Ups a try for yourself

Jiu Jitsu Calgary
msb12 | August 7th, 2008

We are just a couple of weeks away from the new season starting again at Jiu Jitsu Calgary.

Classes are run a couple of times per week and then an additional class is organised for the more senior ranks.

At Jiu Jitsu Calgary we have a good number of students attending classes regularly. With  just a couple of weeks to go, I would like to think that these students will start preparing themselves physically, just so the initial sessions are not too much of a shock on the system. A bit of pre-season training would be very beneficial for you.

A few multi body part and functional type exercises would be ideal. Nothing too strenuous at the moment but exercises like Burpees, Body Squats, Push Ups, Lunges and some good stretching exercises would be ideal just now.

With all of the stresses on the body from throwing, being thrown, lifting, slamming, extending joints, grappling, punching, kicking and so on, that are received when training at Jiu Jitsu Calgary, it really makes sense to prepare yourself beforehand . We do our own preparatory classes during the initial weeks but the transition is far smoother if you are prepared.

Beginners at Jiu Jitsu Calgary are given a more gentle introduction, however, if you can start to get yourself in some kind of shape before commencing classes, the beginners would also find it far easier to cope with the classes.

Anyone interested in starting our system of Martial arts, simply contact us through the site at Jiu Jitsu Calgary

He has great speed of punch, great movement, great style, great combinations and a whole range of effective punching techniques.

Take a look for yourself and I have no doubt that you’ll be thinking “WOW” I think this little kid could give us all a few Boxing Training Tips of his own -

Now is he just awesome or what, I can’t wait to see him fighting in a couple of years. Can you believe this kid is just 6 years old now. Great work by his father and team to be able to keep such a young prospect so keen and motivated.

After watching that, if you are still in the mood for some Boxing Training Tips then get yourself down to the local Gym.
